New art for a new year
A new year deserves a new entry don't you think?

I'm hoping that 2009 will be a year of healing, and a year full of amazing artistic growth. I actually struggled way more than I expected to in 2008. I was forced to finally move right before Christmas, and now I live in the suburbs. I have two roommates, a cat, and two birds to deal with now. The cat is my new best friend, but I'm just not into the birds. Although one of the birds is into me, and has literally chased me around the apartment.

My art will play a major role in my life this year. With all that's going on with me, I don't have a choice when it comes to succeeding. I've been a little off since the move though, and I'm just trying to get back into work. Of course I'm still working with nude models every week. It's about the only consistent thing in my life right now. The last decent piece that I created was a tattoo design for someone. Well, I sort of just did what I wanted to do, and used a style that I usually don't use for such pieces. I ended up giving the design to a certain young lady though. She actually came up with the phrase on the design's banner. "Love Conquers All". The phrase was the one thing that the original recipient wanted me to come up with. This young lady wanted the phrase on her skin, and loved the image that I designed. So, I combined the two, and basically said she could use it instead. It's not like I was getting paid for this job. I liked the original idea, and I rather see the design on her lower back. Who cares about some guy's arm... lol.

Type your So, what do you think of the image?

Other art news includes me stressing over the VMFA fellowship. I finally learn in February if I'll be awarded this $8000 art fellowship. I've been trying to zone it out since November's deadline, but February is so close now.

I'm also a part of an art show in February. I haven't eveb started on my piece. I was hoping to enter two new pieces, and maybe two older pieces. I've just been too out of it with the move and everything else in my life. The show should be amazing though. My friend is hosting the show, and she has hosted some really good events so far. I have to say that I have some talented, and good people in my life right now. I may be sick, but I'm a part of the local art community.

I almost forgot to mention that I performed a demo, and lectured some at my old community college late last year. For Drawing 3 and 4 students. I'm not a big speaker, but my work spoke for me. Plus my professor friend provide some questions for me to answer. I had the students drooling over my work, and it was a great ego booster of course. The professor even surprised me by saying that my work will be better than his by the time that I reach his age. That was definitely a huge compliment since his work is amazing. Well, I'm suppose to return back to his class this semester. I made three appearances near the end of last semester, and those appearances look great on my resume.cut contents here.

As for the health issues, there haven't been any new changes. I still look normal and feel horrible most of the time. I am on new meds now though. I was finally approved for Rituxan IV treatments. I actually had two treatments already, and I believe I'll have two more in 4-6 months. Hopefully, these treatments will help me go into remission. I always have fun with IV meds. I have to sit in a chair most of the day while the med is pumped into me. A really good infusion center provides free lunch. I ate ok for the Rituxan infusions, and one of the Drawing group members even visited me at my last treatment. She baked me some cookies, and I they were really good.

On a final note, I hope that someone still reads this LJ. I really need one of you to buy me the David Choe Hairdo Hoodie... lol.

I'm going to try and fit it in my price range somehow. I could always use an early birthday present from someone on the internet though:D

By the way, you could probably afford the tee shirt version.
